Located in the historic heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, our family run restaurant & tea house is open daily from midday - 11pm serving delicious, traditional, home cooked Turkish food and drinks.
Our philosophy is to provide you with a relaxed & memorable eating experience that's based on fresh, home cooked food. At Empires we don't serve alcohol but you're welcome to bring your own wine or beer for which we charge a small corkage fee.
The food at Empires centres around the Turkish tradition of meze; a selection of small dishes similar to Spanish tapas. A large selection of our meze are vegetarian & vegan and the menu also includes a range of meat & seafood. We also serve traditional Turkish main courses and a selection of delicious sweets & desserts.
Our authentic ,bohemian atmosphere is unique in Edinburgh and at weekends we have live performances from a host of progressive and very talented local musicians. The music on offer ranges from traditional Greek and Turkish to classic flamenco and experimental folk and acoustic.
We recommend that you book your table in advance to avoid disappointment - especially at the weekend when we're really busy.
